Another old sweater, well, a cardigan really.

I still have some of that yarn left so I’m thinking maybe doing Radiate from the Spring 2009 Knitty.

There’s a name for the yummy turtleneck sweater I test knit: Vaahtokarkki (Marshmallow) by Pirkko Jokela

The test knit is finished! It took me about two weeks but there were a couple of false starts and lots of frogging because I didn’t read the pattern as carefully as I should have. :)

I’m calling this one Frostbitten although the pattern doesn’t have an official name yet.

Love it! I want to make another one!

Here’s another project that’s been done for two years now but never got posted as finished on Ravelry.

For reals this time: the cabled DROPS cardigan pattern has finally been translated to English. And it’s on Ravelry, too. Is it too hot to start knitting winter garments?

DROPS Cabled Cardigan

The pattern is out! Only it’s in Norwegian…

want. pattern. now.

want. pattern. now.

After finishing the MacPalmikkoneule cabled cardi I still had some balls remaining of the yarn. The DROPS Tailored cardigan had been in my queue for a while and seeing villapeikko’s version made me want to knit it even more. A few yardage calculations confirmed me that I had enough yarn and off I went.

  • Pattern: DROPS 97-18 Tailored cardigan (ravelry)
  • Yarn: about 6.5 skeins (316g/935 yd/855 m) of Novita Wool in colorway #192 (dark teal)
  • Needles: 3.5 mm circular
  • Mods: I couldn’t get gauge so I took stitch counts from size S and measurements (in cm) from size XS; moss stitch borders instead of garter stitch; knitted body in one piece; top-down seamless set-in sleeves with short-row shaping

Tailored Cardigan #2

I’m so pleased with how this turned out that I’m already knitting another one in apple green. I want one in every color! :)

Tailored Cardigan #2

FO: Drops Bolero

  • Pattern: 107-19 Bolero (Ravelry) from DROPS/Garnstudio
  • Yarn: The Cotton Garden Bella (100% cotton), colorway #14 (navy), about 4.5 balls (226 g or 360 m/393 yards)
  • Needles: 5.0 mm
  • Mods: Omitted the button holes and instead did button loops at the end. Continued knitting the garter stitch borders all the way up, then did a knitted-on border along the back neck.

I’d never done a round yoke before but from now on, I’m definitely trying this more often. I’m loving the purl ridges in the yoke part and I’m already mentally modding this to make it a full-length long-sleeve cardi. Wouldn’t it look great in rustic or handspun yarn?

BOO! Skull slippers!
